Slip Sockets - Socket Bowls

RAMPP slip sockets are used on a tool string with jars to fish for stems, bits or other similar tools that are lost or stuck in the hole.  The socket is fitted with curved slips that rest on a conical seat at the lower end of the socket and are held in place by the slip reins.  When the socket is driven over a lost tool, the teeth on the slips bite into the tool.  As the socket is raised the conical seat forces the slip teeth deeper, thereby insuring a better grip for lifting the tool.

Full Circle Pattern Slip Sockets

The full circle socket is recommended for difficult fishing jobs in 6” and larger holes where severe jarring might be necessary to loosen tools.  It has four slips that form a complete circle around fish or collar and secures a very strong  hold similar to that of a combination socket.  Separate sets of slips are used for catching box and pin collars.

The 6” socket is usually used to catch box and pin collars on tools with 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” – 7 API joints, and it necessarily has very thin walls.  It therefore will not stand severe jarring when made of finest alloy steel available.
