Horn Sockets

The RAMPP horn socket is made with a long tapered barrel which is slotted down the side.  Its principal use is to remove a loose bit from the hole.  It is not recommended for use in a caving hole or when jarring is necessary.  Unless otherwise specified horn sockets are made to catch pin collar diameters of the same joint size as specified on horn socket ordered.

Solid Forged Friction Sockets

RAMPP solid forged friction sockets are used to fish loose bits and other tools.  A good friction hold will remove the tools from the hole of loose, however, this socket is not recommended when heavy jarring is required.

Wire Line Cutter

The RAMPP wire line cutting outfit is of the jar up type.  It is used for cutting the wire line should the tools become stuck in the hole.  The knife is 4 5/8” in diameter and comes with on set of cutters.  In addition, the outfit consists of a combination jar and sinker, Babcock socket and a set of tool wrenches for 1 ¾” square.  The cutting outfit is run  on the sand line when the drilling line has to be cut because of a stuck bailer.  An important safety factor of the RAMPP wire line cutter is that it will not cut the line until it hits the top of the rope socket neck.  This prevents premature cutting and makes a “line free” rope socket for the fishing tools.  After the outfit is in position the knife is jarred upward actuating the cutters.  The cutters consist of two per set and may be ordered in additional sets for replacement into the knife body.
