Combination Sockets

The combination socket is the most commonly used of all fishing tools and is used to catch the neck of the wire line socket when the line has been pulled out of the swivel or broken off.  It is also used to catch the pin on bits or other tools that have become unscrewed in the hole.  It can also be used to catch any round object that is smaller than the mouth bore of the socket.  Slips are in three pieces and are held in a conical seat at the bottom of the socket by a strong compression spring and wood block.  Slips are of low carbon steel, case hardened, to give a very hard outside surface and a soft, tough core.

Combination Socket Slips

Extra slips can be ordered for the combination socket.  Please specify the size socket, the mouthbore size, and what you are catching.

Corrugated Friction Sockets

The corrugated body of this friction socket enables it to take a strong friction hold on a lost tool, and in some instances will stand a limited amount of jarring.  This tool can sometimes be used for recovering tools in a tight hole where  it is impossible to run a combination or slip socket.  It is also successful in catching tools having irregular shapes  If so ordered sockets can be more deeply corrugated to catch smaller diameter tools than specified in the catalog.
